UNWTOâs commitment to accessible tourism is guided by the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, a fundamental frame of reference for responsible and sustainable tourism development. Article 7 of the Code recognizes that âdirect and personal access to the discovery and enjoyment of the planetâs resources constitutes a right equally open to all the worldâs inhabitantsâ. As such, UNWTO collaborates with Disabled Peopleâs Organizations to mainstream accessibility throughout the tourism sector. In 2013, the UNWTO General Assembly adopted Recommendations on Accessible Tourism for All to guide stakeholders in implementing universal accessibility in practice.
