Using The toolkit

Using the ToolkitΒ

Β

The Toolkit is composed of two parts:Β Part I: IntroducingΒ the Toolkit – a user guide, where users will find instructions on how to navigate their way through the Toolkit and Part II, where they will be introduced to tourism-relatedΒ SDGs targets and potential indicators. Users are also able to search for indicators by SDGs and themes using a theme table created in Part I.Β

Part IΒ of the Toolkit explores the rationale for havingΒ indicators and provides a brief explanation of what theΒ toolkit contains and how tourism related SDGs targetsΒ were selected. It gives an overview of how the presentΒ work positions among the several existing systemsΒ and frameworks catering for tourism and sustainableΒ development. It describes why project-based indicatorsΒ are necessary and explains how they can help tourismΒ project managers better track progress towards theΒ achievement of the SDGs. The Toolkit also provides guidance on how to use the project-based indicatorsΒ effectively within the project cycle.

Users are able to search for indicators by going through the theme table (Table 3.1) which was devised by grouping indicators created for different targets in Part II.Β

Part IIΒ of the Toolkit is structured into 17 chapters, eachΒ dedicated to a specific SDG. Each chapter explains the linkΒ between the specific SDG and tourism. It then providesΒ an overview of the selected SDG targets, their relevanceΒ to tourism and presents potential indicators which areΒ categorized under different themes and sub-themes. TheΒ potential indicators are designed to be adaptable to suitΒ the reality of each project, enabling users to effectivelyΒ work towards achieving the identified SDG targets
